Your data, in plain English.

guidepost's whole pitch is that you can trust what we tell you. That has to start with how we treat your data. Here's the honest version: short enough to actually read.

The short version

• guidepost does not use your data to train AI models. AI providers process reading prompts under their own API terms.
• We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. Ever.
• This website uses no third-party trackers and no cookies that identify you. The one cookie we set remembers which campaign brought you here (nothing about who you are) and only if you arrive through a tagged link.
• guidepost never connects to your accounts or your software. It records provider API answers with web search enabled, which can differ from consumer apps.

What this website collects

If you request a free reading: your email and website. City and trade are optional. If you arrived through a tagged link we also record the campaign tag (e.g. utm_source), so we know which channel works. We store a salted, one-way hash of your IP address (never the address itself), purely to rate-limit form abuse.

The campaign cookie: landing here through a tagged link sets one first-party cookie (gp_attr) so the campaign tag survives if you read a few pages before signing up. It holds the campaign labels, the page you landed on, and the date (no identifier of any kind). It is never shared with anyone, and expires after 30 days. Arrive without a tagged link and no cookie is set at all.

Page statistics: we count visits ourselves, in aggregate: page, day, and the referring site. The counters use no cookie, no fingerprinting, no advertising pixel, and keep no record tied to you as an individual visitor.

Email: requesting a reading triggers two emails: a welcome note to you and a notification to us. Replying “stop” (or emailing us) removes you from the list.

What a reading collects

Almost nothing, because the product does not need much. It never connects to your accounts, your field service software, your books, or any other system you run. There is nothing to install and no permission to grant.

To run a reading we use the business name, website, trade, city and service areas, confirmed aliases, and an email address for the report.

Everything else comes from provider responses and their cited web sources. It asks OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and Perplexity the kind of questions a homeowner would ask, using each provider’s developer API, and stores the answers and cited web pages. API results can differ from each provider’s consumer app.

We keep the readings so your report can show change over time. guidepost does not use business data to train models. Provider API processing remains subject to each provider’s terms.

Who else touches it

We run on a small set of infrastructure providers, each processing data only to provide their service to us: Cloudflare (website and application hosting), Google Cloud (API), Resend (email), Postgres hosting (product data), Stripe (billing), and Auth0 (product login). Running a reading sends the question, and your company name and city, to the AI assistants being measured (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Perplexity) and their web-search systems.

What we never do

• Sell or rent your data, or share it for advertising.
• Use your business data to train guidepost models.
• Put identifying cookies, third-party trackers, or third-party analytics on this site.
• Keep data we no longer need.

Retention and your choices

Contact details are kept until you ask us to remove them. Readings are kept while you use guidepost, because a report showing change over time needs the earlier readings to compare against; if you leave or ask us to delete them, we remove them from live systems promptly and they age out of backups on a short schedule. To see, correct, or delete anything we hold, email hello@getguidepost.ai; a person answers.

Changes
